Around the time of the release of the DC Extended Universe team-up film Justice League, the original plan was to have Ezra Miller’s solo The Flash film feature an adaptation of the popular Flashpoint storyline. However, after disappointing box-office results and the departure of DCEU godfather Zack Snyder, Warner Bros.’ plans for the universe went through a bit of an overhaul. After a few directors were considered for the Scarlet Speedster’s first feature film, the studio finally tapped John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein to helm the movie.

Now, as Warner Bros. keeps moving ahead with its plans for the DCEU, rumors had begun to surface, claiming that The Flash would film in February 2019. Well, it appears like those rumors may have a bit of truth to them. In an interview with Variety, Kiersey Clemons, who will play Iris West in the film, has confirmed that The Flash will not go in front of cameras this year.

While she was careful not to divulge any potentially revealing information, Clemons said “What I will say is that they get to approve every job that I do and so far I’m not doing Flash for the rest of the year.” While she doesn’t confirm the February start date, she does goes on by saying “Let’s hope for 2019.” But clearly, she knows more than she’s letting on.

Kiersey Clemons was first tapped to play Iris West in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Some footage of the actress could even be seen in the film’s early trailers, but Snyder’s departure and the oncoming arrival of Joss Whedon, who re-structured and re-shot the film, led to Clemon’s Iris West being cut out of the team-up movie entirely.

While some thought that this meant the role would be recast for The Flash, it was previously confirmed that Clemons was still on-board to star in the film. “I talk with Ezra frequently,” the actress told Variety, once again confirming her involvement in the film. “And… we’ll see… we can’t say anything!”
